Highlights From July 2023

The summer is flying! I can’t believe my daughter heads back to college in a couple of weeks!

I’m really enjoying doing these highlight posts because it seems like we’re always go, go, go onto whatever is next. It gives me a chance to look back on photos from the month and relive memories. I highly recommend you trying this whether on a blog, social media post, in a journal or creating a small photo book.

A few highlights from July…

1 – Fireworks

First time seeing fireworks for 4th of July in Tarrytown. While it didn’t have the high energy of being in the city, the unobstructed views and smaller crowd made it worth it!

2 – Hiking

One of my favorite weekend activities. I like to explore and try new (to me) trails – bonus points if part of it is in the woods!

Croton Dam

I used to do photo shoots with the girls here when they were younger. We discovered a really steep trail going from the top of the dam down to the bottom. I was wearing sandals on the day we came here and while I attempted to make my way down, I was slip sliding away! Definitely want to go back when I’m wearing my hiking shoes. If you go here, there’s a great ice cream shop nearby called The Blue Pig. They even have vegan options!

Tibbets Brook Park

This one is very close to home so when we don’t want to go far, this is a favorite spot. Also did photo shoots with my girls and nephews here when they were kids. It’s especially beautiful in The Fall!

Marshlands Conservancy

This was a new trail for us. Felt like we were on a weekend getaway. The day we went was so hot and sweaty but the trail ended near the Long Island Sound so that cooled it off for a bit. Afterwards we walked around the town of Rye. I realized I hadn’t been there other than to go to Rye Playland Amusement Park. Very cute town!

3 – Jury Duty

Luckily it got cut short! I brought some work with me as well as spent some time in my sketchbook to make the most of my down time.

4 – Learning

Plugging away with the Business By Design program trainings. Getting a lot more clarity on the coaching and courses side of my biz. The coaching calls have been great!

5 – Bridal Shower

Celebrating at my husband’s g-ddaughter’s bridal shower. So many beautiful details!! It was fun to be a guest and not the event photographer!

6 – Barbie!

Family outing to see the new Barbie movie. It was fun getting dressed up and seeing how we all interpreted Barbie in our own style. Also featured pink art in the print shop.

7 – Beach Day

We hopped down to Wildwood on the Jersey Shore for a day. My husband had this thing where he’d join his cousins for a week with the girls every August, but I usually skipped because, let’s be honest, beaches aren’t really my thing. Anyhow, this summer was like a wild rollercoaster with our schedules all over the place, so the usual week-long tradition wasn’t in the cards. Instead, we rolled with a day trip – and you won’t believe it, even I tagged along! The weather was a total win, and I just chilled under an umbrella after a good long beach walk. Oh, and the icing on the day? A Polish ice treat and a crazy ice cream concoction from Scoops. Definitely worth the long car ride!

8 – My Happy Place
