It was such a pleasure to photograph this Sweet 16 event and hear the miraculous story of the birthday girl. The family told me she was born extremely prematurely at 24 weeks – just over a pound and fitting into the palm of their hand! I can only imagine how emotional that time was for the family!
You can see the love and gratitude her mom and grandmother felt for being able to bring family and friends together in celebration – 16 years later after being told she may not make it past her first year. A true miracle of life!
It was such a great reminder to continually direct your mindset and focus towards hope, positivity and faith in miracles! They truly are all around us if we’re open to believing in them!
The birthday girl was all decked out like a Disney Princess! She was a show stopper on the streets of Riverdale where we did the photo shoot – right in front of the restaurant Cocina Chente where the event was being held. As people passed they stopped and congratulated her. So sweet to see!
The cake! Right in line with the purple theme of the party AND guess who made it?!? The birthday girl herself! As a former cake decorator I can totally appreciate what goes into these designs. I love hearing about having a passion for creativity at such a young age!
